Step 2: Preparing Your Nails

1. Remove ancient nail polish

It is important that your nails are clean so the acrylic nails have a fresh foundation to be applied on. You should use an acetone-based nail polish remover and soak your nails in them. After that, the nail polish can be easily removed using a cotton pad.

2. Trim Your Nails

It would be helpful if you cut your nails to a manageable length. This will make the application of the acrylic nails much easier. A few millimeters after your natural nail smile line is good.

3. Buff The Surface Of Your Nails

This makes them rougher and less shiny making it easier for the acrylics to stick to your nails. You can do this using a soft nail file or a nail buffer.

4. Push Back Your Cuticles

This needs to be done so that the acrylic applies to your nail and not to your skin. This can be achieved using a wooden cuticle pusher, if you do not have this, it can be replaced with a wooden popsicle stick. Also, it is easier to push back cuticles when they are wet. So try soaking them in water for a few minutes to soften them.

5. Use A Nail Primer

This is a very important step as it removes oils from your nails and makes it easier for the acrylics to stick to it. You can use a nail primer or rub the surface of your nails with acetone.

Step 3: Putting On The Acrylics

1. Apply The Tips To Your Nails

Firstly, you need to find the tip that is the right size for your nail. If the tip doesn’t exactly fit you can file it down. Also, tips that are slightly smaller look better than tips that are slightly bigger.

Dab some glue on the bottom half of the tip and apply it to the bottom of your nail(near your cuticle). Hold the tip down for 10 seconds to allow the glue to dry. Do this to all 10 nails then cut them to your preferred length.

2. Prepare The Acrylic Materials

Pour the acrylic liquid and powder into separate acrylic dishes. Make sure you are in a well-ventilated area as the fumes from the acrylic are so strong.

3. Add The Acrylic To The Brush

Dip the brush into the acrylic liquid and then push it all the way into the powder in the separate dish. When you do this make all the bubbles go away.

After that, brush it against the side of the bowl to remove excess liquid. Run the brush through the acrylic powder so that a small, moist ball collects on the end of the brush.

The small ball of the acrylic mixture should be moist and simple to spread. The small ball shouldn’t drip off the brush.

4. Applying The Acrylic To The Nail

Apply the small ball of acrylic to the bottom of the nail (near the cuticle) and bring the ball down to the very tip.

You can sculpt the acrylic by pressing the brush flat onto your nail and softly move the acrylic to smooth out bumps and to spread it out evenly.

It’s important to wipe your brush on a paper towel in between each stroke to make sure the acrylic won’t stick to the brush. Also, make sure to use small single strokes in the same direction to avoid lumps into the acrylic.

You may need to put more acrylic to cover your whole nail, so you should repeat steps 2-7 until your happy with the coverage of the nail.

5. Now Let The Acrylic Dry

After applying the acrylic, you should let the acrylic set for 10 minutes. You will cognize it’s dry if it makes a clicking noise when tapped.

Step 4: Finishing Up Your Nails

1. Shaping Your Nails

Use a coarse nail file to shape the tips and file them to the length you want. Use a buffer on the surface of the nails, the 240 grit file takes away the scratches from the 180 grit file.

2. Paint Your Nails

Paint your nails using the nail polish of your choice. You should also use a topcoat over it.

3. Maintenance

After 2-3 weeks, your acrylic nails will have grown out. You should select to either reapply acrylic or remove the acrylic from your nails.
